    The Institute on Ethics & Policy for Innovation (IEPI) is focused on identifying and addressing ethical challenges, ethics-related risk, and policy gaps that have the potential to undermine the impact of life-saving technologies and interventions in Global Health and Development. We help researchers, funders, sponsors, policymakers, and other stakeholders in global health navigate through ethical issues that impact work across the innovation lifecycle: discovery, development, delivery and policy & advocacy.

    The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (DMSP) in the School of Public Health at the Université de Montréal brings together professors and students in training programs across five areas of excellence: Health promotion, Global Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Bioethics. The Bioethics Program offers a complete training program (undergraduate, masters and doctorate), anchored in the reality of the health services, research and public health environments – and it is a leader in the French-speaking countries. The Bioethics Program hosts the Canadian Journal of Bioethics/Revue Canadienne de Bioéthique, the only bilingual peer-reviewed open access journal in Canada.

    The Pragmatic Health Ethics Research Unit is an interdisciplinary research group based at the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM). Launched in 2006 under the leadership of Dr. Eric Racine, the Unit pursues the longest tradition of Canadian bioethics established in 1976 at the IRCM. Inspired by philosophical pragmatism, the Unit develops new theories and concepts as well as advanced methodologies to sustain innovative, participatory, and collaborative responses to ethical problems surfacing in science, medicine, and technology. It has made pioneering contributions to the field of neuroethics and is active in a vast array of health-related ethics issues related to rare diseases, transition care, medical aid in dying to name a few. It organizes the hybrid and bilingual Montreal Health Ethics Conference Series, an engaging and open forum for dialogue on health and values, and publishes Brainstorm, a health ethics newsletter.

    The Canadian Journal of Bioethics/Journal canadienne de bioéthique (CJB/RJB) is the only bilingual (English, French), open access, not-for-profit, peer-reviewed bioethics journal in Canada. Hosted by the Bioethics Program of the School of Public Health at the Université de Montréal, the journal fills an important gap in the Canadian and international bioethics community, particularly for French-language bioethics, by providing a space to publish high-quality and stimulating theoretical, conceptual and empirical research in a variety of formats.

    In addition to peer-reviewed articles and critical commentaries, the journal publishes case studies, creative works, perspectives and reviews of books, films and academic events. Topics cover the full spectrum of bioethics, including but not limited to clinical ethics, research ethics, public health ethics, technology ethics and professional ethics.

    The John Dossetor Health Ethics Centre is the only interdisciplinary, academic health ethics centre in Alberta and one of the first in Canada.
